Red Factoring

If the dog in question has a red parent, but it blue or black, it is red factored. The black gene is dominant so it will be expressed (blue or black color).  The red parent has only red genes to give, but combined with a black gene it will only produce red if they too are red factored.  A red bred to a NON red factored dog/bitch will only produce blacks and blues.

The ONLY way to get all reds is to breed a red to a red.  They are both recessive and by the breeding will be brought dominate.

Some dogs do not have red parents, but red ancestors and in this case you will have to wait to see if the offspring is red.  Not all dogs with red ancestors are red factored unless it is their parents that have a red parent.  It can skip generations, but MUST be in the background of said dog/bitch.
