Four weeks, the start of "real" puppies, they are barking, playing, howling, growling and developing into the dogs we know they will be. We can see the development of structure, the individual personalities. We know who will be naughty and who will be nice. The joy of a house full of puppies at Christmas. On Christmas day we will pick up our granddaughter and bring her home for a week to share not only the joy of the puppies, but the warmth in our hearts of a wonderful, gentle child playing with the puppies, they will be a good age, and she is well educated on dogs and is good with them. I will be sure to take a "lot" of pictures. We also have good news on our number eight puppy (bear with us, this is humorous, not a true puppy, but an "adopted toy"). I received so many condolences I felt I had to mention this at the beginning of the page. It is just part of our ongoing puppy update with a bit of MEGABUCKS humor. this has also been an unusual week for the puppies, due to a power outage that lasted for days, the puppies are back in the house and loving every minute of the time. They have an ex pen, a door mom uses to jump over to nurse them. They have nose to nose access to all the other dogs in the home, and they do get the big dog's paws into the pen searching for spilled kibble that is within reach. Mom now spends very little time with them, a quick jump in, and a quick nurse, she doesn't even lie down anymore. We have to keep the puppies' nails trimmed to save her belly from sharp nail tears. It is a period of developed independence of the puppies, and mom getting ready to wean. Most of our mothers are very glad to wean at six weeks of age. The puppies are eating free choice hard kibble and drinking a lot of water, they are almost ready for mom to step out of the picture.

| Black Tri Female,
3 lb 5 oz -- She is still the one that has taken my
heart. I love everything about her. I am even thinking of
names just in case she stays. Of course she is not showing herself
off very well in her first picture, but I think that head on shot makes up
for her first shot. She is a nice feminine girl, she likes to stand
at the side of the ex pen and tip her little head back and let out a howl,
she loves to be picked up and has the best licky tongue. She will
stand alone in the middle of the enclosure and wave her paw at me to catch
my attention. Well she has my heart, now all we have to do is decide
what to do with her.

| Blue Merle Male,
4 lb 5 oz -- This little boy with the blue eyes (maybe
partially blue), is one of our shyer boys. We are working on
him to bring out a more confident personality. He is just perfect
for a companion dog. He loves to be held and snuggled, he loves to
just tuck his head under your chin, take a deep breath, and wait for the
petting. Yes this boy will be such a love, and such an interesting
little boy with his unique color.

| Black Tri Male, 3 lb 5
oz -- One of our more active pups in the group. He is one
that will stand on the side of the sheepskin doggie bed and leap at who
ever gets close enough for him to see. He loves to rough and tumble,
a true boy. We think of him as a male version of our BTF. He
has more bone, a little less white on the collar and a little more black
on the legs, but both look like brown eyed beauties. He is one of
the alpha of the group.
Chet calls weekly to check on his "MAX". This little guy is destined to become a winning boy on the Northern California show circuit.

| Blue Merle Male, 3 lb
9 oz -- He is turning out to be quite a nice boy, he has the
heaviest of bone and the most masculine head. So far we are pleased
with his conformation, but again we must be patient and see this dark
merled boy grow and see what he will become. He will sure be a
striking boy when he is grown. Those eyes do not seem to be all
blue, but partially only. This little guy ranks right up there with
Max, they are both the terrorists of the group, both outgoing, but still
enjoying their loves.

| Red Merle Female, 3 lb
7 oz -- Our one lone red lady is still a girl for
herself. She plays when SHE wants to play, and when she chooses to
sleep it is usually on the top of the heap, her belly towards the sky, and
her feet in the air. She has her own ideas on what a puppy should do
and not do, and right now there are not a lot of "nots" on her
list. She is a middle of the road girl, not too forward, and not too
quiet. Her head is a stronger head then her sister and she has more
bone. The eyes are a mixture of blue and amber. Again a pup to
watch grow. I want them to stay little, but can hardly wait to see
what they may become. Sometimes I think I might keep too many just
to see how they grow.

| Black Tri Male,
3 lb 7 oz -- Still our darling and our lover. He is the
most loving of the group. When a human appears within sight or
hearing distance, he is the first at the side of the ex, actually he and
his BT sister. He places his little paws on the side of the ex and
begs to be picked up. This little guy has one of the more
interesting conformations in the group, he is short necked, short in body
and a little cobby, but he makes up for all of that in the love he gives
you when you see those eyes. He too will be a great companion
prospect. He has a lot of love to give to a family and is just
waiting for his placement. This guy is the LOVE of the group.

| Blue Merle Male, 3 lb
5 oz -- As this darling little boy ages I am drawn to him
more. He is not as heavy in bone as his darker merle brother, and
his head is not as masculine, but it fits him. His powder blue color
is becoming darker and the merleing is darkening. With the light,
the dark and the copper accents he might turn out to be quite a boy.
I want to watch him carefully. This guy is a play boy, a loving boy
and he seems to hang out with the BTF, they have a bond of play and
wanting loves at the same time. His eyes may turn out to be all
blue, but I would guess they will be marbled. He also has most
interesting eye liner around his right eye, another dramatic affect.

| HE IS SAVED !!! | |||
| Light burlap base coat with a
dark liver frill, 2 oz -- With the help of a
great vet, and extensive home care, this pup should make it in life.
He is still part of the group, but gets his care from humans now and as
soon as he heals he will be allowed SUPERVISED visits with his
family. Thank goodness for good "homeopathic" meds, they
helped so much in saving him. We do have quite a few stitches and
the bandages will come off next week. This little guy not spends his
time in my office where he will get daily loves, but not be endangered
from a rambunctious group of Aussies and Penny the Corgi. He is
safe. He has a HEART on his "rear" for love.

| We have quite a
few puppy basket pictures. I had three times this many, but I felt
this was overkill anyway, I just love to see them lump in the bed.
Yes they are outgrowing the bed and a new bed is to be expected, but they
look SO CUTE now. I just can't help myself when I have the camera
close.

| Grandma Eve watches out for the brood, she was such a good mother herself we have to be careful that she doesn't try to steal the puppies from mom. It is still not unusual to see Eve in with the puppies, she just can't stop that motherly pull, luckily Liz accepts her mother's loving ways. | |||
